Amsterdam MuseumsOn October 14, 2014 by Emil
First, the Stedelijk, which is a modern art museum. Pretty interesting, and here is a sample of the art represented:
I liked it, a good place to spend a couple of hours or even most of the day if you like.
The next day I went to the Rijks Museum…
The Rijks Museum is huge and has a variety of art from many different eras and places:
There was even a large exhibition of old arms and armor, some of which were quite decorative in nature:
The Van Gogh Museum did not allow photographs inside, but it was also worth a visit.
As an aside, the I Amsterdam city tourist card gets you free entrance into the Stedelijk and Van Gogh museums, but only a small discount to the Rijks Museum. Just be aware of this, as the I Amsterdam card is a bit pricey at 47 euros for a 24 hour pass (and 10 euros per each additional day). I think if you use the public transportation a lot, and also hit a lot of the museums and the canal tour, the 72 or even the 48 hour card might make sense. Otherwise I think it’d be tough to get your money’s worth in 24 hours.
Still, such city cards are worth considering… the Salzburg card was well worth the money, and nearly paid for itself with the visit and funicular ride to the castle.
